Perhaps the moderator will find this thread off topic, so I apologize in advance.
All Internet users know English, which is the language of Internet. But what English they know?
Simple, apart from native speakers, most of the other know written English, but they not write it correctly (just like me) and do not speak it. And overall they have difficulty understanding the English spoken.
I have read thousands of pages in English without any problems, but I struggle to understand a movie, and MILLIONS (billions?) of people are roughly like me. If the movie has subtitles in English, no problem.
I love books , not the movies, so I'm not very interested in the issue, but the younger generations are educated to the pictures, which have modified even their logic and their learning.
For this reason the movies are very important. But if one finds difficult to understand because of accent or speak in a hurry, then he surrenders after a few minutes.
Just subtitles in English, not in so many languages , and combining what one hears and what one sees written, he has no problems.
If there are problems he pauses, finds the translation of the unknown word and then resumes.
We are 7 billions, and may be 500 millions English native speakers. Why give up so many? Only for the subtitles ?
Already it is necessary to find a curious and open-minded person, but then why make his life too difficult?
If it does not seem an argument for the forum I apologize, but for me it was very much in theme with the Holocaust and Revisionism.
