I an not help but wonder if everyone would have the same dim view of Irving, if he had not lost to Lipstadt. Certainly, the view of him was quite different before the trail.

As the old saying goes, a Victor has many fathers, but a Loser is an orphan.

I imagine Catholic priests have a unique view on the camps, bucause from 1932 on Catholics were well represented in the camps.

The symbol German Catholics would wear was a purple triangle.

One is measured by the company one keeps.

I would not be so quick to fall in line behind the Iranians.

Radar,

I have to ask you what you mean by "the crude force of law"? Are not societies defined and given structure by law?

Radar, I think you and I have read different transcripts of the trail. Irving constantly miss-quoted witnesses, his own and the defenses. He could often not cite a source, or agreed he had miss-cited sources (which never helps at trial). The crowning moment was when he called the judge, "Mien Furher...

Radar, I'm not certain what you mean by "these people", and I'm not sure you want to tell me. What I am sure of is that nothing puts the reader on notice that a reasoned argument is not to follow more than bombast and hyperbole. If you are going to start your letter with chest thumping, save your se...

AnonPoster, As for your second question, for Germany and those territories occupied by Nazi Germany, the National German Archives would be be best place to look. For Soviet occupied Poland and the Western Soviet Union, good luck. I imagine that books have been published containing the information, b...

I've read Leucter too, and I find his work very flawed as well. The problem with Leucter is that he has little or no understanding of the natural sciences, being an engineer by training. His only claim to expertise is in designing lethal injection devices for those US states that use them in capital...

Dear Goethe, I'm not certain what you mean by 10 years vs. 3 years. Irving was involved in a civil litigation, which he initiated, so he was not facing jail time. It was also an English court and not German, so while Irving's performance looked foolish, but could not be called criminal. Still, in re...

I think the reason that Irving's litigation has possibly stopped future legislation is more negative than positive.

While giving testimony, Irving recanted most of his position on the Holocaust and the bombing of Dresden. By the time he got off the stand, legislation seemed moot.
