German taskforce: only 5 of 1,500 artworks were 'looted'

Postby Breker » 3 years 5 months ago (Tue Apr 19, 2016 7:27 pm)

Part of the demonization of Germans is the thread bare looted artwork propaganda that we see thrown around with some frequency.
Now we see that Jewish groups are worked up that it has been proven to be another untruthful assertion. We suspect they were expecting yet more unearned handouts.

German taskforce finds only five of 1,500 artworks were looted by Nazis

A taskforce set up by the German government to determine the ownership history of more than 1,500 artworks discovered in 2012 has found that only five were wrongfully taken from Jews, drawing criticism from Jewish groups.

German tax inspectors discovered the art collection, which included works by Matisse and Picasso, during a raid on the Munich home of Cornelius Gurlitt. His father, an art dealer, had sold what Hitler dismissed as “degenerate” art.

After two years of research, the head of the taskforce, Ingeborg Berggreen-Merkel, presented the final report on Thursday.

She said that only five pieces had been confirmed as stolen Nazi art, although 499 were determined to have a questionable history. Of the five, four were returned to heirs of their owners, including Max Liebermann’s Two Riders on a Beach and Henri Matisse’s Seated Woman.

The announcement drew sharp criticism from Ronald Lauder, the president of the World Jewish Congress. Lauder issued a statement calling the results “meagre and not satisfactory”. He said he “expected Germany to do better, given that time is running out”, and accused the taskforce of managing its work poorly.

Jewish groups have been pressing the German government to move quickly, since many of the heirs of the Nazi victims are elderly.

Accused of carrying out her work without sufficient transparency, Berggreen-Merkel said a dispute over the validity of the will of Gurlitt, who died in May 2014 at the age of 81, had made it difficult for the taskforce to be more forthcoming.

In the will, Gurlitt designated the Bern Art Museum in Switzerland as sole heir to his collection. A cousin is challenging the claim, arguing that Gurlitt was not in good psychological health when he wrote his will. A court decision on the validity of the will is due in February.

Monika Grütters, the culture minister, has announced that Germany is setting up a Lost Art Foundation in Magdeburg, which will continue research into Gurlitt’s artwork.

Right.....he didn't want the crap either, so he sold it and kept the good stuff.

A man of good taste.

Oh the sweet irony of it all. Only a fire breathing, zionist pushing, holocaust believing, 6m dead jew desiring jew would say this -
Accused of carrying out her work without sufficient transparency,

Of course our cup of transparency on the side of jews and the holocaust runneth over...

It seems we'll have to wait for the release of Monuments Men 2: Time for Restitution before having the Zionist final narrative of this WW2 episode.

The art dealer, Gurnitt, was a halachic jew, from his mothers side. So this whole story is based on another scam among their own..compare Madoff's ponzi scam, Soros dealings in WW2

. His great-grandmother was Jewish,

All of his great-grandmother's children were also Jews, so talking about his great-grandmother is irrelevant since at least one of his grandparents was a Jew.

If his grandmother was a Jew, that would make him a full Jew.

The question that remains is why don't we hear about the great works of art that were truly looted out of Germany by the Allies?

That was my point, if someone has any jews on their maternal family tree, they are considered jewish. If I was cynical I could suspect media is trying to distort the fact that this art dealer/scammer is formally jewish.

Here's yet another instance that debunks the misleading claim that the Germans stole much of Allied Europe's art during WWII ... when in fact it may well have been the other way around.

Curious how this amazing Duerer piece was in the hands of the deputy mayor of Sarrebourg, France in spite of the fact that "Staatsgalerie" is stamped on its back.

500-year-old German engraving surfaces at French flea market

Berlin (AFP) – long-dead German artist Albrecht Duerer is causing a stir after a collector donated a lost work, bought for a few euros on a French flea market, to a Stuttgart museum.

The bronze engraving titled “Mary crowned by an angel” dates back to the year 1520, Anette Frankenberger of the Staatsgalerie art museum told AFP on Friday, and is in “very good condition”.

A retired French archaeologist noticed the work on a bric-a-brac stand in Sarrebourg in eastern France, after the seller cleared it out of a house in the town.

Alerted by his keen eye, he quickly bought the piece — only to find the stamp of the Staatsgalerie on its back and decide to donate it anonymously.

The man came “personally with his wife” to return the engraving, which had been missing since the end of World War II, Frankenberger said.

The museum spokeswoman added that the piece had likely been wrapped in paper for some of the intervening decades, keeping it in good condition.

It was owned by a former deputy mayor of Sarrebourg before ending up at the second-hand stall, she said.

The museum has not yet decided how to put the engraving on display.

“We have to find the right setting to present it in,” Frankenberger said.

Duerer was born in 1471 in the southern German city of Nuremberg and travelled through Italy, becoming one of the first artists to introduce the Renaissance in Germany and northern Europe.
If it can't happen as alleged, then it didn't.

Isnt it about time that all the bad-mouthing of the Germans stopped? May be somebody in Germany should tell Mr. Lauder to stop rewriting history to suit the Zionists. I suppose the Germans should be happy that the Allies stopped saying that German soldiers bayonetted babies. Behind all the acts of robbery committed by the Germans lies a Jewish lie, which they are most unwilling to give up. Even though the Internet is full of documentation about World War 2, the Jews still insist on 6 million Jews having been burned in the holocaust and that figure and the holocaust is still parotted by the Jewish sicophants all over Western Europe, Just recently a news article appeared praising a midwife from Auschwitz who brought over 3,000 Jewish babies into the world at Auschwitz and who were not thrown into the ovens right away, of course that fact was not mentioned.

You could be onto something. The article doesn't seem too interested in how the piece arrived where it was found. As usual, a journalist manages to become conveniently incurious.
