Marine Le Pen silent on France's strict Holocaust Enforcement Law; Expels revisionist from party

Postby Sannhet » 2 years 1 month ago (Tue Apr 25, 2017 10:18 pm)

With France's "Marine Le Pen vs. Emmanuel Macron" runoff election in the news, and given that Marine's father and party founder, Jean-Marie Le Pen, has been put on trial several times for Defaming the Holocaust.... I present this, excerpted from a (google-translated) blog-post by Robert Faurisson, dated March 18, 2017:

Marine Le Pen campaigns against historic revisionism. What will Jean-Marie Le Pen decide?
[....]
Suddenly, overnight, Marine le Pen and Nicolas Bay, respectively president and secretary general of the FN, have just ejected from the party a bookseller of Nice, Benoît Loeuillet, who, in front of a hidden camera, had let slip Some words of revisionist nature. The expulsion of the bookseller was so rapid that N. Bay expressed the hope that the other parties would one day react with the same promptness to the statement of such intolerable statements.
In her "114 presidential commitments [for 2017]", Marine Le Pen does not demand the repeal of the Gayssot law. On the other hand, his father, in point 11 of his Charter of Jeanne Committees values (Montretout, 13 January 2017), demands in particular the "repeal of so-called" memorial "restrictive laws and the restoration of freedoms in all areas of scientific, intellectual or historical research ".

For the moment, one wonders what will be able to decide J.-M. Le Pen at a time when, in France, the revisionists are overwhelmed with searches, seizures, custody, trials (sometimes Interminable: more than ten years of waiting!), Prison sentences, fines, damages, legal costs...

They have to do this - it's strategically wise, albeit dishonest.

At this delicate stage of elections anything that could damage Le Pen must be eliminated.
Only if she totally secured her position can she think about changing the law (I'm not even sure how much power in that regard the French president has).

Spruce is right. She has no choice. It's difficult for her to advocate even repealing the Gayssot Law, even though people like Simone Veil and Elizabeth Levy oppose that law.

It's always "strategically wise" to take the route of least resistance in the modern parliamentarian system. But how will FN ever be able to change anything if they always adapt to french media & establishment popular opinion ? Will they always be "strategically wise" once in power, not to loose votes in the *next* elections ?

Marine Le Pen is a Holocaust believer. She once called the 'Holocaust' "the pinnacle of barbarism" (le summum de la barbarie). We all know that learning the truth about the 'Holocaust' takes a lot of time and effort. But Marine Le Pen visibly never took the time and effort needed to get such a learning. Not a strategy on her part. Just pure ignorance and carelessness. She knows nothing about Holocaust revisionism and she doesn't care at all about the lot of Holocaust revisionists in France and elsewhere.

Is it possible that she knows the truth and just pretends to be a Believer?

Yes it is possible that she is going along with it for tactical reasons considering the legal trouble her father got into when he expressed some remarks on the subject. France is a signatory to the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights which is supposed to guarantee freedom of expression so I don't know how such a totalitarian law is compatible with that document -

There are 2 sides to every story - always listen or read both points of view and make up your own mind. Don't let others do your thinking for you.

Possible, but unlikely. She seems more accustomed to fiery festivals than to meticulous study if I'm asked...

The UN Declaration of Human Rights has a self-protection provision which is based on the principle of "no liberty for the enemies of liberty." In 2003, the European Court of Human Rights ruled that Holocaust revisionism is a serious attack on human rights & democracy and that Holocaust revisionists' freedom of expression can not therefore be protected by the UN Declaration of Human Rights.
