Most of the Jewish expatriates were working at Los Alamos and the list is quite long. The best book on the subject is Richard Rhodes' The Making of the Atomic Bomb. Another is Now It Can Be Told by General Leslie R. Groves. David Irving's The German Atomic Bomb is good too but a little dated. The main reason that the Germans never got it together is that their lead physicist, Heisenberg was too theoretical and the German government never saw the practicality of the idea of atomic energy until too late. A ruthless military engineer like SS General Hans Kammler should have been put in charge of the project with the highest possible priority and somebody with more practical experience like Dr. Paul Hartek made the technical director of the enrichment program. Heisenberg later tried to claim credit for failing to give the Nazis the bomb, but that is not the song that he and Hahn and others were singing after they heard of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Their conversations were secretly recorded while they were Allied prisoners at Farm Hall, and they blamed themselves for the failure and allowing Germany to be bombed into rubble.

:D

Interesting Scott, thanks. Your knowledge impresses me.

So it looks like it's what Hannover's been saying: that this Karlsch was naive enough to think he could find revelations in the Soviet archives. The first thing Karlsch should have done is read the Polish Soviet Extraordinary Commission Report. He would have then known what he was dealing with.

Hannover is correct,

What was placed in Mr Jacksons hands were - tea leaves -

Mr Jackson said that the information placed in his hands said:
"...that it ... developed, temperatures of from 400 to 500 degrees centigrade and destroyed them without leaving any trace at all.

400 degrees centigrade to 500C would be able to make a great cup of tea!

http://www.ensc.sfu.ca/undergrad/euss/e ... /pg10.html

When Little Boy exploded 580 meters above Hiroshima, it created a fireball 60-100 meters in diameter. Within 17 meters, the explosion temperature was 300,000 degrees Celsius. Within 50 meters it was 9,000-11,000 degrees, and at ground level beneath hypocenter the temperature exceeded 6,000 degrees.

Just to get these bombs going, huge temperatures are required, thousands upon thousands of degrees.

No wonder nobody put a name to this document.

Hah hah hah haaaa

Cheers

Apparently, there is a book to be published soon which claims Hitler indeed detonated an experimental bomb...

"The effects were tragic. The trees around had been turned to carbon. No leaves. Nothing alive. There were some animals - sheep - in the area and they too had been burnt to cinders."

Could Mr Romersa have seen the detonation of an early prototype? He is not the only person to have claimed to have witnessed similar explosions. Former East German archives have produced this account by Cläre Werner: on the evening of March 3 1945, she claimed, she was near the town of Ohrdruf when she saw a "big, slim column" rise into the air, "so bright that one could have read a newspaper".

Ohrdruf had a concentration camp, part of the Buchenwald complex. Heinz Wachsmut, who worked for a local excavating company, told officials that the day after Ms Werner claimed to have seen an explosion he was ordered to help the SS build wooden platforms for the cremation of the corpses of prisoners. He said their bodies were covered with horrific burns.

Right. The Germans would blow up an island and an area near Ohrdruf, but allow the Soviet forces to rampage through Germany.

Cläre Werner and Heinz Wachsmut, from the Communist archives?

If it can't happen as alleged, then it didn't.

No, the document was never produced. Jackson was "arguing a matter not in evidence", as American lawyers would say. There is no proof that any such document ever existed. Jackson was such a crude shyster that it is hard to believe he had a law degree. If he really wanted to prove that the Germans exterminated Jews with an atomic bomb, he should have asked the court to introduce the document into evidence. Unless of course you consider the whole thing just a "fishing expedition" question, like "isn't it a fact that you are only accusing my client of murder because you're having an affair with my client's wife and you'd like to see him put away for a while?"
Cheap lawyers engage in this sort of tactic all the time. It is considered unethical unless there is a "good faith" basis for the question.
Jackson didn't know what "good faith" was. He was a shyster lawyer from a small town who get elevated to the Supreme Court, God knows how.
I often wonder how Speer kept from laughing.

I often wonder how Speer kept from laughing.

Anyone with a cocky attitude got extra harsh treatment. Irving wrote a poor book on Nuremberg, but to his credit documents strong lights pointed in people's faces all night, and mentions I believe, Speer, being separated from the other defendants and having to eat alone when he started making jokes. If memory serves.

Stuff like that.
