Churchill again

Postby EtienneSC » 5 months 1 week ago (Mon Jul 02, 2018 2:54 pm)

There are some interesting quotes in this speech from the British biographer of Clementine Churchill, the wife of WInston Churchill. In a letter to his wife at the end of the war, he claimed not to know about how bad the German camps were:

Purnell says:
"I sincerely believe that he did not know that we had there an industrial killing machine, on the sort of scale that we now know."
And she cites a letter from April 1945 about it in which Churchill says:
"You have no idea how horrible things are. We simply did not know."
Churchill sounds a bit like Monica Shaefer's mother.

Churchill knew there were going to be war crimes trials at the conflicts end - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=11053
I think the above quotes are him talking up the prosecution case. And also covering his own tracks by diverting attention away from his support and appeasement of Stalin - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYJ1_RG2xS4
An interesting article on Churchill and the holocaust. It shows what a hypocrite he really was - https://codoh.com/library/document/3136/
There are 2 sides to every story - always listen or read both points of view and make up your own mind. Don't let others do your thinking for you.
