Another Auschwitz tale after 70++ years.

From the position of - Never let the truth get in the way of a good story - comes this little beauty.

A new book which claims that a young woman met her husband to be in Auschwitz because he was the tattooist in the camp and inked her number for her.

Of course they both survived the 'death camp' and met shortly after their release back in their home town, fell in love and married. Her number was 34902, I wonder what his was?

All this despite the complete lack of tattooing evidence and machinery ever having been found, see CW Porter and his tattoo investigations on the googlage thingy. All in a 'death camp' where the young and the infirm/elderly were facing certain death, even though thousands of children not only survived but were tattooed as well!

What a mess this story is !

From the Daily Mail article above :

His fictionalised memoir, The Tattooist Of Auschwitz, has become this year’s sleeper hit, a global bestseller now being turned into a TV series by the team responsible for the BBC’s acclaimed drama The Cry. It will be broadcast in early 2020, just before the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the camp.

Also covered here at the BiBiC : The Tattooist of Auschwitz - and his secret love

Back in December 2003, CODOH forum member, Hebden posted the original version of this story from Australia : Auschwitz tattooist

As Hebden pointed out in a follow up post, the claimed tattoo numbers ( in 2003 ) in the series 38000 supposedly began in August 1942, do not correspond with other sources.

Also, Lale Sokolov aka Ludiwg "Lale" Eisenberg's wife, Gita Fuhrmannova aka Gisela Gita Furman, is reported to have been tattooed by him with the number #34902

According to the Auschwitz Museum, in Danuta Czech's Auschwitz Chronicle 1940 - 1945 ( 1990 ), the number #34902 was assigned as part of a batch on May 8, 1942 :

Auschwitz State Museum : Auschwitz Chronicle 1940 - 1945 ( 1990 ) : Danuta Czech, Page 164

May 8, 1942

36 prisoners sent in a group transport receive Nos. 34868 - 34903

Yet, the BiBiC article above, cited by Lale Sokolov's Wikipedia page states :

BBC : The Tattooist of Auschwitz - and his secret love

By Ritu Prasad BBC Stories

8 January 2018
...

Prisoner 34902

It's July 1942 and Lale is handed another piece of paper. In front of him are five digits: 3 4 9 0 2.

Tattooing men is one thing, but when he holds the thin arm of a young girl in his hands, he feels horrified.

He has not yet been made the tetovierer. Pepan urges him to do as he's told. If he doesn't, he will condemn himself to death.

There is something about this girl and her bright eyes.

Years later, Lale will tell Morris how in that moment, as he tattooed her number on her left arm, she tattooed her number in his heart.

He learned that her name was Gita - she was in the women's camp, Birkenau.

With the help of Lale's personal SS guard, he would smuggle letters to her. Letters led to secretive visits outside her block.
...

Wikipedia : Lale Sokolov

Lale met Gisela "Gita" Furman in July 1942 while tattooing an all-female group of new arrivals: [ 1 ]

Maybe Gita travelled back in time from her "July 1942 arrival", to get her tattoo done on May 8, 1942 when Danuta Czech's unnamed source states that her number #34902 was assigned ...

Also, from the Auschwitz survivor, George Rosenthal, at the Jewish Virtual Library, in his article : "Auschwitz-Birkenau: The Evolution of Tattooing in the Auschwitz Concentration Camp Complex", we learn that :

Women were not issued numbers from the same series as the men. The first female prisoners arrived in March of 1942; they were issued numbers in a new "regular" series, just as the men had been. As the number of female prisoners brought to the camp escalated, new number series were started in the respective categories.

Another Auschwitz State Museum book, "Auschwitz : Nazi death Camp" on page 62 states :

On March 26, 1942 the first female prisoners brought to Auschwitz received numbers from a new series that remained in use until the end of the camp's existence. Around 90,000 women were registered in this series, including Jewish women ( up to mid-May 1944 ).

This series of women's registration numbers is evidenced on numerous pages of the Auschwitz Chronicle and the series is very different from the number #34902 that is said to have been assigned to Gisela "Gita" Furman.

For example, on page 163, the page before the May 8, 1942 entries when the number #34902 was assigned, we read that :

May 6, 1942

21 male prisoners from Kattowitz receive Nos. 34847 - 34867
13 female prisoners are marked with Nos. 7434 - 7448

and on page 165 the next female numbers are assigned from the same women's series for some new arrivals :

May 12, 1942

Five female prisoners transferred from Ravensbruck receive Nos. 7449 - 7453

Also, the original 2003 article cited above, states :

Hebden wrote:
Small with pale blue, haunting eyes which large glasses fail to hide, Sokolov was the Auschwitz/Birkenau tetovierer (tattooist).

From August 1942 to late 1944 he, along with assistants, tattooed the arms of 200,000 Jews from Holland, Belgium, Yugoslavia, Norway, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Austria and Hungary.

...

One of them became his wife, Czechoslovakian-born Gita. Although he does not recall it, the pair met for the first time when Sokolov tattooed Gita’s arm upon her arrival at Birkenau in August 1942.

...

So, quite how the future wife of "The Auschwitz Tattooist", Gisela "Gita" Furman / Fuhrmannova, managed to get registered with the number #34902 which was assigned on on May 8, 1942, two months before she arrived in July 1942, from a series of numbers assigned to male prisoners and tattooed by her future husband before he started his tattooing in August 1942, is all a bit of a mystery ...

Although, judging by this statement from the same 2003 article :

One of them became his wife, Czechoslovakian-born Gita.

Although he does not recall it, the pair met for the first time when Sokolov tattooed Gita’s arm upon her arrival at Birkenau in August 1942.

I suppose that's one of the benefits of disseminating "holo-facts" from very old folk, whose memories are gone and waiting for them to die before you tell the tall-tale ...

Excellent work Horhug. I had an inkling this would turn out dodgy. I wonder if there is a picture of her tattoo or are we in the same dangerous water as the Elie Wiesel tattoo shenanigans?

Sounds like a made up story from the world renowned israeli publishers Goldberg, Avit and Blumenthal who never let the truth get in the way of the holocaust industry.

That's a classic but it proves everything we say about the holocaust as claimed by the dead sea pedestrians, they make it all up as they go along. Once more we see a book, then a film coming out seventy years after the claimed events and wonder why on earth they were unable to say all this years ago?
