I knew the footage from a German news movie. It's true Theresienstadt was not a concentration camp; more like a "luxury ghetto", certainly nothing like the ones in Poland. Many German Jews in good-standing with the authorities were sent there in the begining. Things deteriorated only later in the War. We should keep in mind that many refugee German Jews were in fact also held in camps by the British as "foreign resortisants" and so on.

Nevertheless, we should equally keep in mind that obvioulsy staged propaganda is not the truth. German NS leaders were not enthusiasts of free expression for all, of course. They much preferred free speech for themselves, i.e. the possibilities of crude (and not so crude as is the case) propaganda.

Sorry, the word I used doesn't exist in English. I was thinking of the French "ressortissant": someone who belongs to a different jurisdiction.
