For professor Moffa, on the other hand, it is a question of academic and intellectual freedom. His website vaunts a declaration of support for his initiative, signed by more than 20 other Italian academics.

The professor claims that he is not himself a Holocaust denier. But his most recent relevant posting to the site is entitled “Why Faurisson and the ‘deniers’ convince me more and more”.

Picking up on the prison sentence given to David Irving and the various penalties inflicted on his guest, he poses the following question: “Why is … judicial harassment that smacks of manic obsession necessary if the arguments of Faurisson and Co are indeed ‘unfounded’?

Yes, indeed, why?

Does anyone know if Carlo Mattogno is present?

Note that Moffa has the word Negazionisti (Deniers) within quotation marks.

Nice to see that Professor Faurisson is still going strong and healthy despite his age (79)

I did some googling on the subject and found a thread on the "Stormfront" forum. It had some posts with info of interest, copied below:

Here is the story about Faurisson's visit to Teramo and his interview by a local TV station:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=re7L5...515%26page%3D2

To recapitulate for english only speakers, Faurisson could not hold the lecture, but was allowed a lengthy press conference (together with his sponsor, prof. Moffa). After the conference there was an attempt by a number of Jews who arrived from Rome to attack Faurisson phisically, but this was thwarted by his supporters. There also was a significant presence by the right-wing Forza Nuova in town, which caused several fights in the main square of the city. Three Jewish activists were briefly detained by the police.

Faurisson thanked Italy for being able to express his views freely (which he is not allowed in his native France) and told the reporter that his origins are both French and Scottish, and that his Scottish origins probably gave him his rebelious nature ('Scots are rebels by nature...'). He also told that he is used in being attacked physically (he suffered 10 attacks since he became a revisionist) and that Jews want to treat everyone who disagrees with them as they treat Palestinians in Israel. In the story, Faurisson is referred to as a "denier", but also as a "French scientist".

He was also allowed to give a short 60 word exposition of his ideas: “The alleged Hitlerite gas chambers and the alleged genocide of the Jews constitute one and the same historical lie, which made possible a gigantic financial-political fraud, the principal beneficiaries of which are the State of Israel and international Zionism, and whose principal victims are the German people -- but not their leaders -- and the entire Palestinian people.”

Prof. Moffa later told the reporters he was greeeted by a number of people in Teramo who congratulated him on his courage after seing Faurisson's interview on TV. He also told reporters there is a significant portion of the Italian public that is skeptical about the 'Holocoast'. "It is not true that everybody is against us - Italy is divided on the subject", Moffa said.

That a TV station was allowed to present the event in such a fair, unbiassed and detailed manner, giving ample space to Faurisson and his supporters, warms my heart and gives me a great deal of hope for Italy. Italians are definitely not nearly as brainwashed as people here in the US. Nothing of the sort could ever be seen on TV here in the 'land of the free and the home of the brave'.

Yes, indeed. It's good to see him in great form. Faurisson at the gate, holo-hoaxers in panic. The World is a big place, the conspiracy of silence no longer works.

It should be noted that in spite of the unusual news coverage, the famous 60 word sentence in which Faurisson condensates his conclusions, announced by the in-studio speaker herself, was amputated of the following words: "the state of Israel."

In the second news excerpt we continue to see the professor speaking, but his voice --until then translated by the reporter on location -- is cut off at that precise point, with the studio speaker's voice accurately taking it from there, except for the supression of the words "the state of Israel." Then, in the fourth excerpt, the whole second half of the sentence (from there on) is missing.

A single sentence? Just 60 words? No way! Those words are the worst nightmare of the hoax-makers, the modern falsifiers of History. Here is the complete sentence as Faurisson has been repeating it for decades with no alteration (the censored words in red):

"Les prétendues chambres à gaz hitlériennes et le prétendu génocide des juifs forment un seul et même mensonge historique qui a permis une gigantesque escroquerie politico financière dont les principaux bénéficiaires sont l'état d'Israël et le sionisme international et dont les principales victimes sont le peuple allemand, mais non pas ses dirigeants, et le peuple palestinien tout entier."

At a given point in the short interview, Faurisson declares himself "until now" agreeably surprised by the local news coverage. Yes, he knew what he was talking about...

For comparison purposes, here is Faurisson's 1980 interview with Ivan Levaï, in Europe1:

Also, I don't think this is news for the participants in this forum, but the very effective 1986 Faurisson video "Le problème des chambres à gaz" can be found here, in 8 parts, in French:
