Lip reading the Holocaust

Postby Holycaust » 1 decade 2 years ago (Fri Jan 04, 2008 9:16 am)

I recently came across a video documentary on google video called Hitler Speaks which offers us another stunning example of the flimsy kinds of evidence sometimes offered for the Holocaust.

The documentary looks at silent films shot by Eva Braun at the Berghof of the private life of Adolf Hitler and the attempts to create the soundtrack to these films using computer lip reading technology developed by deaf speech recognition expert Frank Hubner.

The results are impressive and this is truely a facinating documentary, except for the crass references to the Holocaust which have nothing to do with the subject of the documentary.

A piece of film is shown of Himmler talking rather cordially with Heydrich and Wolf where we hear, with the aid of the computer lip reading technology, Himmler say the following:

Lass mich das sehen...Ich kam heute...Dies ist so typisch für ihn...Ich bin sehr beschäftigt, dieses Projekt, jedes Projekt...

in english...

Let me see that...I came today...This is so typical for him...I am very busy, this project, that project...

All rather mundane right? Well it's at this point that the film maker decides to tell us exactly what project Himmler is refering to...the final solution and the extermination of the jews of course! So we focus in on the word 'project', give it our own interpreted meaning and hey presto, we have more evidence of the greatest crime in the history of mankind!

I really think this would have been a great documentary if they could have spared us the attempts to weave the Holocaust into the films shot at the Berghof. If anything these films are evidence that these weren't bloodthirsty monsters hell bent on commiting genocide, they look and interact just like normal people.

The link to the video is below.

I would be interested to get peoples' opinions on this documentary.

Cheers ;)

Isn't computer aided lip reading (CALR) proven to be a successful measure since HAL used this method in Kubrik's film "2001: A Space Odyssey"?

So why not prove the holocau$t this way if nothing else works?

Sounds like a declaration of bankruptcy of the "industry"

I'm not so sure this film was put out by the industry as a 'proof' of the holocaust, but it certainly bows to the industry pressure of holocaust references being compulsory in any film having anything to do with Hitler and the Third Reich.

I noticed another type of manipulation going on in this documentary the second time I watched it. Notice whenever the clips are played with Hitler and his guests talking there's always creepy music and sound effects playing in the background.

Also the voice they've given Hitler sounds like the voice of satan himself at times, or like a child's talking toy with the batteries almost dead.

There is another technique which they are using as well and that is to mix in real measures taken against the Jews as proof for a Holocaust (their alleged extermination). Examples for this are countless: deportations, camps, nurnberg laws, pogroms, crematoria, typhus dead and the like.

If you are unhappy about the dubbed voice you can hear Hitler's own as it was from these clips:

There's more...

Yes, it is from the exact same clips which they use in the "documentary". You can contact [email protected] for a better copy and more segments.

Thanks heaps. It's great to have access to these videos without the holocaust references and moral condemnations of narrators.

I'm pretty sure these aren't the actual voices of the people involved. It sounds like voice actors were brought in to speak the lines that the lip reading computer technology had determined. In any case they sound like real people in these clips, not like demons or child's talking toys with flat batteries.

Cheers ;)
