it's good to have a reminder that not all Jews are Zionists, and that indeed many are vocal in their condemnation of the treatment of Palestinians. But this does not make them Holocaust deniers. Most would probably regard an approach from revisionists as the kiss of death. Obvious examples are Chomsky and Finkelstein. Finkelstein said in the movie "Defamation" that as he lost all his family he would have to be clinically insane to deny the Holocaust.
We don't have to take that at face value of course. Finkelstein has suffered enough for the the views he has already expressed, and courageously defends. It may well be that he needs to put as much clear blue water between him and Revisionists as he can, for his own protection or because he might lose his present audience. Chomsky supported Faurisson's right to publish and signed the petition against the incarceration of Vincent Reynouard, and against the Fabius-Gayssot law.
The other group of anti-Zionist Jews are the True Torah ultra-Orthodox Jews. They attended the Tehran conference, where they insisted that the Holocaust happened, but denounced its misuse. While we should acknowledge areas of agreement, it is difficult to see where useful dialogue is possible between them and most Revisionists, but their willingness to go to Tehran is encouraging.
What would help is to draw a clear line on our own side between Revisionism and antisemitism. Because we don't accept that Jews suffered to the extent claimed in the Holocaust story and we object to the way that story is misused is not a reason to react callously and unsympathetically as if Jews had not undergone a severe ordeal. Stating, accurately, that so did many other peoples does not diminish this. (Even if it is difficult to avoid laughing at some of the more ridiculous survivor stories.)
Remember David Cole and the hell he was put through.
