Another Swiss revisionist on the run ?

Postby widukind » 1 decade 5 years ago (Fri Jan 23, 2004 6:49 pm)

Today's newspapers in Switzerland report the following :

Fribourg - An arrest warrant was issued against the revisionist René-Louis Berclaz, secretary of the association "Vérité et Justice" (Truth and Justice). The man was to be held for 10 months in jail in Fribourg.

Founding member of "Vérité et Justice", an association now dissolved, René-Louis Berclaz was sentenced in June 2003 by the canton tribunal of Fribourg for racial discrimination and calumny. The tribunal sentenced him to 6 months in jail, and revoked an earlier suspended sentence.

"We summoned Mr. Berclaz last November, to come and serve his term. The letter was returned marked as "not collected"", said Josef Jutzet, service director at the Fribourg canton penitentiary, on Thursday to the Swiss telegraphic agency. (...)

Police agents were sent to notify him of the summons, but the man had already left his home in September.

A national arrest warrant was issued against him, continued Mr. Jutzet. According to him, the swiss embassies and consulates around the world are generally informed of such a measure.

In case he flees the country, the revisionist can still be located if, for instance, he requests an extension of passport. The arrest warrant was not issued on an international level. As explained by the penitentiary service director, Berclaz was sentenced to jail for breaking a law, not for committing a crime.
