There is no evidence to suggest any of this. One lie is that he was addicted to cocaine and opiates. But the truth is that Dr. Morell gave Hitler eye drops that contained a stimulant misinterpreted (read: lie about) as similar to cocaine, and gave him anti-inflammatory injections to deal with eczema of the legs.

These 'drugs' are in wide use today to treat the same symptoms.

What you write is correct.

Below is a small excerpt from a highly interesting letter written by Ernst Zündel in 2004 to Carlos Porter:

Ernst Zündel wrote:You can be sure that the old Masonic, Satanist Rabbis, steeped in their ancient Kabbala, knew this about A.H., and they needed to break the reception mechanism, Hitler’s brain and intuition, by altering his brain-chemistry! Via the drugs administered by Morell! Check Hitler’s decisions carefully (in depth), look at the repercussions, setbacks, miscalculations, outright errors and you will see that he began to lose his sure, sleepwalker-like touch after the arrival of Dr. Morell. Correlate the decisions to the medication – it alerted Dr. Roehrs, who was a National Socialist from the earliest time, in the early 1920s! He was sufficiently concerned with Hitler’s behaviour and state of mind, observed as an admirer and follower, that HE investigated it!

Hitler poisoned by the CIA via Portugal... I'm not sure sure I can by such an assertion. Another time to be sceptical of Zundel. The idea that Germany lost the war due to the impulses of a madman doesn't correlate with reality. I put it down to, by 1945, the pressure of 50 countries vs 2 in a state of total war and if anything, surviving six years is a remarkable feat.

That said, Traudl Junge mentions strife between Roehr and Morell in her memoirs.

I took a scan of a book review done in C&EN, an American Chemical Society publication for Blitzed Drugs in the Third Reich, by Normal Ohler. He states the Fuhrer followed the National Socialist health ideals and did not ask for more than non-additive relaxant, but Dr Morell usually mixed in Eukodal ( compound with 1.5x morphine's strength). In medical records it shows a product called X was injected regularly. The author only infers this to mean opiates on some occasion, or vitamin/glucose on other occasions. He describes the Blitzkrieg's pioneering use of a methamphetamines in battle, but states Hitler did not use the drug, only trying it once.

It's hard to tell from a good pointed question review whether we will expect to read another gross out like the last book was promoted as. This one is still is an inference of Hitler's drug use based on Dr. Morell's notes. If you have access to Institute for Contemporary History in Munich and the German Federal Archives in Koblenz, it seems they will share. BTW, HIPAA records are released 50 years after death, so this is not too disturbing.

So no meth for Fuher, just a crooked doctor administering powerful drugs without consent.

I was thinking how respectful the author was in not using the term Nazi on the book title. Then I saw the international version. Quite the difference. Let the international publishing requirements and conspiracies fly :glasses1:

.....

Amphetamines are used as a last resort by recce troops and pilots, when they did exceed their daily limits of performance. This can however be counterproductive, because after the "high" phase, you'll get an even worse down phase. Needless to say that this actually only really works with people that aren't addicted, since they'd high tolerances for this. That's of course ignored by the Nazi-Sensationalists.

This is anecdotal evidence but I take it as true. My Uncle fought in WWII, North Africa through Italy. He mentioned that before a big operation, troops were given a shot of brandy that, "Would keep a guy going for 2 or 3 days." Uncle B never mentioned that anything was put into the brandy but as I grew older, I realized that alcohol is a depressant and by itself wouldn't, '...keep a guy going for 2 or 3 days." Obviously the brandy was just a vehicle to administer a large dose of amphetamine to the troops.
