Cultural orderliness and German atrocities

Postby Carto's Cutlass Supreme » 1 decade 5 years ago (Sat May 07, 2005 3:06 pm)

Haldan wrote in another thread:
Karl Otto Koch was handed his punishment of execution by famous prosecutor SS judge Konrad Morgen, his execution took place in 1945.

If the German National Socialist Government supposedly encouraged their soldiers to murder Jews, why was Karl Otto Koch punished for his deeds?

Great point Haldan.

I took classes with a Jewish European History professor (frequently cited by Kevin MacDonald coincidentally.)

Check out what he said: regarding the 20's and 30's labor movement this professor commented on how orderly and "by the book" Germans were in contrast to everyone else. He'd laugh and say how you'd have a bunch of burly workers show up at a factory and present a permit to strike, or protest, and if the factory management pointed out that the permit wasn't valid or was out of date. The workers would accept it and instantly leave. THEY WENT BY THE BOOK. This is a cultural trait of the Germans. It stands in contrast to Italians who don't have that same "orderliness" in their culture. Anybody who has been to both of those countries can see that in the first hour of their visit.

So if Italians had made up a bunch of stories about the Germans, guess what? They would either overplay or underplay the orderliness cultural trait. Americans do that too: Ever see "Sprockets" on Saturday Night Live on American television? That's overplaying this cultural trait. And that's what Polish Yiddish did. You'd have the overly orderly Himmler figure goose-stepping all over the place. But in the next breath there is Hirtreiter staging gymnastic events where the losers were shot.

Carto (and Halden from another thread),

When I talk to my friend (the one from the Treblinka thread), I am always trying to impress upon him that the Germans were just like him! (My friend is German.) Namely, they are very law/rule abiding, honest, hard working, honorable, etc. I try to explain that it is just as unlikely a German acted in a rotten way as my friend would.

However, another unfortunate trait of the decent German, is that, I think, because of his inner deceny, he has trouble believing a group of people could/would lie about something as serious as The Big H. Was it Heydrich that said one of the German's best traits is also his most unfortunate? Well, I know what he means!

Anyway, let me make clear, I only stated that there were some German commited atrocities because, well, it was indeed possible and that even if they did happen, it is irrelevant to the H story.
But to stress, I feel the type of person LEAST likely to commit terrible acts would be the German. And who would be the MOST likely? Well, who yells "stop kicking me" when they kick you?

Thanks guys for making my job here difficult.

Sorry mod1, I thought I was going in a different direction than Steve's thread, so I started a new one, but I should have made the title more different to differentiate it.
