Video: Entertaining Auschwitz -- how music, theater and art helped inmates survive

Postby Lamprecht » 8 months 3 weeks ago (Wed Feb 27, 2019 2:56 pm)

Another "Silver Thoughts" video. This time it reveals many of the entertainment activities performed by Jews in this alleged "extermination camp" from music, theater, and art. When you are forced to leave your home, your job, your business, your family and friends and live in a concentration camp, you need to entertain yourself and your fellow inmates. Here is how the inmates themselves entertained Auschwitz and the other German camps.

Was music performed in secret in Auschwitz? Were the camp orchestras only for the listening pleasure of the SS? How did inmates cope with years of forced labor and life inside the camps? This presentation uses photos from the war to show how music, theater and art helped inmates survive.
